HISTORY OF HAWK ROBOTICS
For our inaugural season, we are proudly embarking on a journey that will lay the foundation for our program for years to come. With the guidance of our advisors, coaches, and mentors, Viera High School is building a world-class team, charting our own course, creating a one-of-kind-team to represent a one-of-a-kind town.
Our story is brief.
Viera High School opened its doors in 2006 to a small student population (<1000 students). Instructions from the district mandated that every school begin offering a rigorous STEM program. With such small numbers, The PINK Team, comprised of students from Rockledge HS, Space Coast Jr/Sr HS and Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr HS, invited Viera to join their FIRST-aligned robotics program. Over the next 12 years, Viera would experience rapid community expansion and population growth.
For the 2016-2017 season, it was rumored that PINK would disband with the retirement of its Team Leader. Our school advisor, Mr. F, along with PINK team coaches from NASA, began working aggressively to come up with a plan to keep PINK alive. This meant finding a new workspace, securing funds for at least one more season, and developing a recruiting & retention plan to keep our members engaged. It was not easy navigating our way back. Mr. F was able to secure most resources out of Viera HS, and that is where PINK Team spent the next two years.
Fall 2017 represented the largest increase in Viera’s PINK Team participation. A whopping 65 students expressed interest, and 20 of them eventually joined. It was because of these strong numbers that Viera High School made the decision to leave The PINK Alliance at the end of the 2017-2018 season.
We are ready to branch out and build our own legacy.

HAWKS represent the biggest dreams, ambition, drive, dedication, and a desire to be diverse & the very best at what we do. HAWKS strategically plan and execute flawlessly with precision. HAWKS are successful on and off the field, in the classroom, and model what it means to be a good citizen in our community. HAWKS are a spirited bunch of talented high school students from Viera High School that are driven to learn and work with the best and brightest minds in business, education, engineering, math, science, and technology.
